TitreLe FMI pose un diagnostic alarmiste sur la Grèce, Bruxelles et Athènes le contestent

Bogota-French-Translation-IMF-GreeceHeadline: Brussels and Athens contest IMF’s Alarming Prognosis for Greece

Objectives set by the euro zone for Greece are “overwhelming optimistic” and risk “serious repercussions” for the country’s growth, the IMF warned in an alarming report contested by Brussels and Athens.

This is one in a string of disagreements between Brussels and the IMF: by granting their aid plan in the summer of 2015, the Europeans and Athens agreed on the objective of a primary surplus (excluding debt charges) to 3.5% of Gross Domestic Product by 2018 and ten years following.

In its annual report on the Greek economy, the IMF reaffirms its skepticism by judging the "underlying measures" intended to achieve this objective seem "overly optimistic."

Bogota | Portuguese Translation - IMF and TPP in Latin America

Portuguese Translation - Bogota Inglés Ya
Manchete: Rejeição de Trump ao tratado do Pacífico não será grave para a América Latina, diz FMI

Headline: Trump Rejection of TPP not Harmful to Latin America, IMF says

Organismo qualifica situação econômica da Venezuela de “crise humanitária”

IMF calls the economic situation in Venezuela a “humanitarian crisis”

President Donald Trump hurried to use his executive authority to implement his agenda, like withdrawing the US from the TransPacific Parternship (TPP). The IMF considers the move an “important check on global integration.” However, despite its importance to Latin America, the group minimized its impact on the economies in the region.

Alejandro Werner, director of the department that monitors economic development in Latin America, says that the TPP would represent a "modernization" of the free trade agreements already signed by the countries of the region with their trading partners on the other side of the Pacific. This new milestone, therefore, would foster potentially long-term growth in Latin America.

Título: ¿Qué dijo el FMI sobre las economías de Mexico y Brazil?

Headline: What did the IMF say about the economies of Mexico and Brazil?

In its update for the economic panorama of Latin America, the director of the IMF for the Western Hemisphere, Alejandro Werner, painted a cautious picture with projections in greater detail for the region, Mexico, and Brazil, than already provided last week.

The Mexican economy is entering difficult terrain because of the plans of US President Donald Trump while Brazilian production will continue to be impacted this year by its worst recession in history, the IMF said.
