The confrontation today is far from the conflict between the Soviet Union to the United States from the 1940s to the 1980s, marked by a fundamental ideological confrontation, the reality of an impenetrable Iron Curtain, quasi-total economic isolation, and the threat of a nuclear apocalypse.
